Becoming a Member

Membership in The United Methodist Church is open to all who profess belief in God through Jesus Christ.  Many of our members come from different church backgrounds as well as faith backgrounds.  We encourage everyone to take advantage of opportunities  to grow in the faith and in ministry.

Joining Process

Gather for Worship - come visit the church and see what we have to offer - worship, Sunday school, and special programs.

Grow in Grace - make a decision if First United Methodist Church Coppell is the right place to share your prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.

Go to Serve - in each service an invitation to join is given by the Pastor before the last hymn.  You simply come up to the front of the Sanctuary during that hymn and take the vows. If you do not like crowds, you are welcome to set up a time to join with one of our Pastors in the Chapel.  It is a small setting where a few members will be present and you may take the vows.  Please call the church office to set up a time.

You may become a member of First United Methodist Church Coppell by any one of following ways:

• Transfer of Membership from any other United Methodist Church or another denomination.
• Taking the following membership vow: “Will you be loyal to The United Methodist Church and support this congregation by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?”
• Baptism recognizes God’s love and acceptance of you as God’s own child. If you have been baptized in any other Christian denomination, that baptism is recognized and affirmed The United Methodist Church.
• Profession of Christian Faith: If you have never been confirmed or joined a Christian Church, then you are invited to profess your Christian faith.
