UPDATE: Our Pathway for the Future Campaign has concluded.  A Pathway committee team is currently reviewing options to determine what we can accomplish with the $2,000,000 in new pleges and the $800,000 cash received from the previous campaign.  Recommendations will be made to the Church Council on January 10th.

Dear Church Family,

Our church is blessed with a great vision for ministry.   For more than a year, we have been involved in diligent prayer and discussions to discern how God would lead us into the future.  We want to respond, create, and implement ministries to effectively reach our growing and changing community.

In January, our Building Committee presented plans to renovate church facilities to create more adequately configured space for Sunday School, Stringfellow School, and many other ministry areas.  Included in the plans was the construction of a multi-use building for the church to house contemporary worship, additional classrooms, dedicated youth space, and our fine arts program.  The long days of planning pale in comparison to the vision for how these improvements will make a difference in our ministries and the life of our church. Every person’s FUMC experience, whether member or visitor, will be enriched by these improvements.  The church is the people, but facilities are important tools to equip us for ministry.  Here, we gather in worship, grow in grace, and go out to serve in Jesus name.

As chairs of the "Pathway for the Future" Campaign we have been charged with the task to assure everyone receives information about the project.  While there are many people who can provide effective leadership, we are humbled by this opportunity to serve God and our church.  We are assisted by many capable people and there is a place for you.  God gives each of us a little time, a little talent, and a few rewources to invest in the Kingdom's work.  This is a perfect time for you to step up and say "count on me."  With unified prayer and participation, our congregation can achieve great things.  "We know tha tin all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his prupose."  (Romans 8:28 NIV).

Uncertainty is a given, fear is optional ?

It has been said the "willingness to create a new dream or vision is a statement of belief in our own potential." (McNally).  None of us know what the future holds.  But God is trustworthy to direct and guide our decisions.  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, to not depend on your own understanding. Seek God’s will and he will show you which path to take.”  Proverbs 32:5-6 (NIV).

We each have different challenges and situations.  We are only asked to do our individual best. The most important truth to embrace is this: “If the willingness (to give) is there (in your heart), the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have,” 2 Corinthians 8:11(NIV).   We are only asked of God to do our best.  All gifts are important and regardless of the amount, all will make a difference when used by God.

We look forward to the next few weeks as our congregation unites in spirit, prayer, and giving to accomplish the task.  The appreciation and encouragement we share with one another throughout this endeavor, and our gifts, will inspire ministry and fellowship.  With God’s help, we can accomplish great things.  Together, in Christ, all things are possible and we are able.  Thank you.

Sincerely,
Scott and Susan Wilson
Campaign Co-Chairs

P.S.  This is a crucial endeavor for our church.  It requires bold prayer and a willingness to be open to how the Spirit may lead us to respond. Please take time in the coming weeks to be in prayer daily for our church and one another, wherever you are at 1:30 PM (in recognition of our past 130 years) as we embark upon this journey.
